Victor Wembanyama is back in Sacramento on Sunday, intending to get his first victory in the capital of California. The San Antonio Spurs are up against the Sacramento Kings in a crucial NBA Cup game, and Victor Wembanyama is looking to capitalize on his impressive showing against the Kings earlier in the season.

Wembanyama’s Sacramento Challenge

During his recent trip to Sacramento, Wembanyama impressed with 19 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, and five blocks, yet the Spurs were defeated 127-122. The Kings completed a clean sweep of the series in the previous season. Yet, Victor Wembanyama put on a dominant display in win of San Antonio Spurs on November 11, tallying 34 points alongside 14 rebounds and three blocks in a 116-96 victory.

Spurs Eye NBA Cup Success

This match marks the start of a two-game journey for the Spurs, who currently share the top spot in the NBA Cup standings with West Group B. Tuesday’s highly anticipated game against the Phoenix Suns is upcoming. However, the Spurs are determined to maintain their focus on ending the season strongly against Sacramento.

The Spurs’ run of winning four consecutive games was brought to an end with a 119-101 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Wembanyama posted 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks during the loss. Upon Devin Vassell’s comeback from a knee injury, he provided a positive outcome by scoring 14 points as a substitute.

Kings Look to Regain Momentum

The Kings are aiming for stability following defeats in five of their last six games. New player Jae Crowder is now starting, scoring nine points per game in his first two games. Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis continues to be a strong presence. Moreover, achieving his fourth triple-double of the season in Friday’s defeat against Portland with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.
