Marcus Smart of the Memphis Grizzlies extended their impressive winning streak by beating the Detroit Pistons 131-111 at FedExForum on Wednesday. Their fourth consecutive win and eighth consecutive victory over Detroit were celebrated.

Smart Leads the Charge

Marcus Smart had a stellar game, putting up 25 points and making 7 out of 11 three-point shots, his best performance of the season. Marcus Smart accurate shooting revitalized a Memphis Grizzlies reserve team that added a record-breaking 72 points. Jake LaRavia contributed 19 points on an outstanding 8-of-9 shooting performance, while Scotty Pippen Jr. also notched 19 points starting the game.

Balanced Attack Seals the Win

The team’s depth was highlighted by seven Memphis players reaching double figures in scoring. The Grizzlies’ 54.8% shooting performance demonstrates their effective offensive play. This was the ninth occasion this season that Memphis had seven or more players scoring in double figures. Moreover, topping the league in this aspect.

Turning Point in the Second Quarter

Detroit came out strong, establishing an early 11-point lead and holding onto a narrow edge going into the second quarter. Nevertheless, Memphis answered with a strong 15-1 run, changing the momentum of the game in their favor. The Grizzlies dominated the Pistons in the second quarter with a score of 37-18 and maintained a 30-point lead in the second half.

Pistons’ Struggles Continue

Detroit’s Marcus Sasser achieved a season high of 22 points, while Simone Fontecchio had 19 points. Furthermore, they were unable to defeat Memphis’ strong offense. The Pistons have been defeated in six consecutive games at FedExForum.

Next Up for Memphis

The Grizzlies aim to continue their winning streak as they face the New Orleans Pelicans in their third Group Play game of the Emirates NBA Cup, holding a home record of 8-3.With momentum on their side, Memphis will aim to keep their strong play going and continue to climb the standings. The matchup against the Pelicans will be a key test. Moreover, they look to build on their recent successes and solidify their position in the Western Conference.
