One main factor for their progress is the inclusion of Isaiah Hartenstein, whose arrival has addressed an important need in their team lineup. The Oklahoma City Thunder have begun the 2024-25 NBA season strongly, boasting a 13-4 record. After their strong performance in the Western Conference semifinals last year, the team appears even more formidable.

Shai Credits Hartenstein as the Perfect Fit

Following a commanding 130-109 victory against the Sacramento Kings, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander expressed his opinions on Hartenstein’s importance to the team. “He’s a guy who dreams big for a big name,” Shai stated, recognizing the center’s capacity to fulfill the Thunder’s requirements. Shai commended General Manager Sam Presti for bringing in Hartenstein, noting, “We were aware of a gap in the team last season. Isaiah does a great job of filling that gap. “We have improved as a result of this.”

Hartenstein’s Versatility Shines

Hartenstein’s three-year, $87 million deal has been rapidly justified by his contributions. Shai pointed out that his ability to grab offensive and defensive rebounds, his size, and his skill were crucial factors that could impact the outcome of the game for the team. We no longer need to duplicate the post as frequently. Shai pointed out that he is highly skilled and capable of passing the ball.

A Strong Comeback from Injury

Hartenstein sat out the initial 15 games of the season because of a broken hand, but had a quick influence when he came back. During his first game against the Portland Trail Blazers, he scored 13 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. Hartenstein had an impressive showing against the Kings, putting up 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Thunder Eye Championship Aspirations

Hartenstein’s addition to the team has strengthened the Thunder’s depth and versatility. With Shai taking the lead and Hartenstein strengthening the interior defense. Oklahoma City appears ready to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
