Honoring Dikembe Mutombo: Hawks Celebrate

On Nov. 25, the Atlanta Hawks will honor and remember the life and impact of Dikembe Mutombo. The Hawks will pay tribute to the Hall-of-Famer during the evening with new court decal and special events while debuting their Fly City Edition Uniform 2.0. Mutombo’s memorable jersey number 55 was retired by the team in 2015 and will be the focal point of this emotional event.

Tributes on and off the Court

The Hawks will wear special pregame shooting shirts as a tribute to Mutombo. Fans will be able to listen to his famous “No, No, No” taunt reverberating around the arena following blocked shots, serving as a memory of his defensive superiority. During the intermission, a video will look back on his significant influence both on and off the basketball court.

The Mutombo family will also receive recognition, with their appreciation conveyed in a sincere statement. The family spoke about Dikembe’s strong connection with the Hawks and his loyal supporters, remembering his impactful time playing for the team and his significant humanitarian work.

A Legacy Beyond Basketball

Famous for his strong defense skills, Mutombo is in second place in NBA history for total career blocked shots, with 3,289. During his tenure with the Hawks from 1996 to 2001. He maintained averages of 11.9 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game. In addition to his success in basketball, Mutombo made a lasting impact through his charitable efforts.
