The first quarter of the game saw equal points from both sides; however, Seattle Storm started to take over the game from the second quarter. The storm had a seven-point lead in the second half that was extended in the third quarter with three more points. Both teams scored 19 points apiece in the first and fourth quarters.
Seattle storm remained consistent and their clever approach helped them earn some points in the second and third quarters. With the likes of Tina Charles and Breanna Stewart, Storm emerged victorious 82-72. Tina Charles and Breanna Stewart became the second pair of teammates in WNBA history with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
Tina Charles enters the 7000-point club
Seattle Storm star-player Tina Charles extended her impressive career on Sunday. Charles joined Diana Taurasi, Tina Thompson, and Tamika Catchings as the fourth player in WNBA history to reach 7,000 points during the first quarter of a game against the Atlanta Dream.
On Sunday, Charles dominated Atlanta, scoring 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting and collecting 10 rebounds alone in the first half. She has scored in double figures for seven straight games. Charles, who won the WNBA MVP award in 2012, is already regarded as one of the greatest players in league history. She scored 27 points along with career-high 15 rebounds and 4 blocks.
For Dream, Rhyne Howard was the most sensational player with 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists. However, none of the other players managed to score above 12 points, resulting in a 82-72 defeat.
Naz Hillmon registered all-time high 14 rebounds against Storm. Atlanta Dream fought well in the fourth quarter to make a turnover but Seattle Storm had other plans.
Atlanta Dream will make a comeback against Minnesota Lynx on Friday.
