The Dallas Wings defeated the Indiana Fever 96-86 on Sunday, setting a club record for the most consecutive losses in a row. Arike Ogunbowale scored 16 of her 22 points in the second half. For Dallas (12-15), Teaira McCowan closed with 17 points, while Allisha Gray had 16 points and three steals. Kayla Thornton contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Dallas overcame a 23-17 first-period setback to take a 45-39 lead at halftime thanks to Gray’s 10 of her 11 first-half points in the second half quarter.
Just 1:11 into the third quarter, Gray made a 3-pointer to increase the Wings’ lead to 10, and they never looked back after that. Dallas’ seventh victory raised its road record to .500. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana (5-25) in scoring with a season-high 34 points. She also had three steals, five rebounds, and six assists. Queen Egbo scored 14 points, and Nalyssa Smith added 16 points. At home, Indiana were dropped to 3-12.
Early on, Indiana Fever took a significant lead in the first quarter. However, their six-point lead was converted into a 12-point deficit in the second quarter when Dallas Wings claimed 28 points. Dallas Wings continued their dominance in the third quarter as well and took an 11-point lead. Indiana found ways to recover in the fourth quarter but a magnificent lead from Wings in the second and third quarters gifted them a remarkable victory. Dallas Wings won the game 96-86 as they handed Fever, their 12th consecutive loss.
Despite a loss, Kelsey Mitchell was the highest points scorer for Fever. She claimed 34 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
For Dallas, Arike Ogunbowale appeared to be the most valuable player with 22 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Teaira McCowan scored 17 points and Allisha Gray claimed 16 points.
