Russell Westbrook has been constantly in the spotlight during the NBA 2022 offseason.
The nine-time NBA All-Star chose to extend his contract, putting him on the Los Angeles Lakers’ books for $47.1 million the next year. Last year, the Lakers finished 33-49 and as the 11th seed in the Western Conference, missing the playoffs. Due to the team’s difficulties, there have been numerous trade rumors surrounding Westbrook.
The Miami Heat can trade for Russell Westbrook as he can propel them to the NBA Finals. This is because the Heat has reached Eastern Conference Finals in two of their last three appearances. They defeated the Boston Celtics to reach the NBA Finals in 2020, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, and they fell to the Celtics this past season in Game 7 of the Conference Finals.
They are obviously very close to making it to the Finals once more or possibly winning the NBA Championship. In the summer of 2019, Jimmy Butler joined them, and it has been a perfect combination.
Kyle Lowry, a six-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion, is their point guard at the moment. However, Lowry won’t be in his prime during the 2022–23 NBA season, when he will reach 37. Lowry struggled with an injury during the NBA Playoffs this past season, which led to him missing a number of games and reducing his performance level.
Westbrook will turn 34 this season and is still highly resilient and dynamic. Out of the 82 games, the Lakers competed, and the upcoming Hall of Famer participated in 78. His commitment and effort would also be a fantastic fit in Miami.
Butler and Westbrook can lift the side altogether
Westbrook and Butler would create one of the league’s toughest backcourts ever. In the meantime, all of the shooters on their roster would cover for their deficiency in the shooting. The Heat would benefit by trading Lowry and (a few others to satisfy salary requirements) and become an even stronger playoff team than they are currently.
