NBA 2022 Draft is all set to change the fortune of a few dozen prospects.
The NBA draft is one of the biggest events of the year since it brings all types of coverage, allows for trades, and builds excitement for the upcoming season of NBA players and stars.
The draft is scheduled for Thursday, 23rd June and the NBA fans are prepared for another bunch of excitement. Everyone else is hyped to find out who else is coming in to complete their team’s roster, and they don’t have to wait anymore. The official draft begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. ESPN has taken the responsibility to broadcast the draft.
Magic with the No.1
For the 2022 draft, Orlando Magic won the 1st pick early on. The Thunders, Rockets, and Kings have the next three picks followed by Orlando Magic.
Every year, this renowned league receives an inflow of fresh, young talent thanks to the NBA Draft. It is a yearly event where 60 selections are chosen over a period of two rounds. However, we have only 58 this year owing to tampering sanctions against Miami and Milwaukee. In every draft, each team receives two picks: one in the first round and one in the second phase. These picks can then be traded throughout time, that is how clubs can wind up with more, less, or no picks than expected. However, high school players can’t be drafted in the NBA draft.
Teams having the most picks in the draft
The San Antonio Spurs have the highest number of picks (Nos. 09, 20, 25, and 38). Not only this, they have three picks in one round and one pick in the second round.
After San Antonio Spurs, we have Minnesota Timberwolves in the second number with four picks in the draft. With Nos 19, 40, 48, and 50, they will have a lone pick in 1st round and three of them in the second round. The Houston Rockets (Nos. 3, 17, and 26) and the Spurs have the most first-round picks with three apiece.
There is a long queue of teams having zero picks for the 2022 draft. Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Utah Jazz are among them. These teams have the option to acquire them via trade or purchase on draft night.
Expected top picks in the 2022 draft
Jabari Smith Jr. out of Auburn and Chet Holmgren are two consensus options right now for No.1. They are considered potential leaders among young stars and are more likely to be picked. As every unexpected thing happens in the NBA draft, some other players can also be a surprise selection for the No.1 pick.
Jabari Smith is a strong, extremely athletic big man with an extensive long-range shooting ability. Chet Holmgren, a 7-footer who is extremely slender, has tremendous guard skills, shot-blocking expertise, and is a perfect jumper. Strong point forward Banchero can also push his way into a lot of beneficial situations, but he needs to work on his shot.
