It will be the end of seeing double Klay Thompsons for Warriors
Dawson Gurley, Klay Thompson’s lookalike had an eventful night at the Chase Center last night as he managed to get passed the security. After making his way to the court and “shooting around” for 10 minutes before of Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday, the team banned Dawson Gurley from games at Chase Center in San Francisco.
“Banned bc I walked past 5 layers of security guards (who willingly let me through security without asking for ID) & shot around on the court for 10 minutes, I also spent 10K on tickets which they are not refunding. Why should I be banned because their security is incompetent?” Gurley wrote on his Twitter account on Monday night.
Gurley posted a video of himself pulling off the prank and meeting no opposition from Chase Center security despite passing through multiple checkpoints. He also provided a letter from the team, which stated that he could face trespassing charges. The letter read “You deliberately deceived Chase Center building personnel by impersonating a GSW employee”.
The Warriors weren’t the only ones who fell for the ruse. Gurley, who became famous for sitting courtside at the 2018 NBA Finals dressed as one half of the Splash Brothers, visited with fans and signed autographs. Gurley’s actions appear to have been justified in his perspective as a result of his viral celebrity status.
However, he seemed ok with the decision and is willing to accept his punishment.
“Was it worth it to lose 10K on tickets and be banned for life? Absolutely,” he tweeted. “I was an NBA player for 10 minutes bro. Don’t want to make this a bigger deal than it is, the chase center has every right to ban me,” Gurley wrote. “I get it. No hard feelings. Had fun doing it.”
