Kevin Durant is an American professional Basketball player who plays for National Basketball Association (NBA) side, Brooklyn Nets. He was picked by Seattle Supersonics after just one season with college as a second overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. Seattle Supersonics changed their name to Oklahoma Thunders in 2008, where Kevin spend nine seasons. He then joined Golden State Warriors in 2016, with whom he won two consecutive championships in 2017 and 2018. In the 2019 Finals, he sustained an Achilles injury, after which he joined Brooklyn Nets as a free agent and still plays there. Kevin Durant is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Professional career
Seattle SuperSonics / Oklahoma City Thunder (2007–2016)
After being picked as a second overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, he immediately showed his worth by winning NBA Rookie of the year in 2007, averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.
First NBA finals (2010–2012)
Just before the start of the 2011-12 season, Durant signed a five-year contract extension with the Thunder worth approximately $86 million. He led the NBA in scoring for the second consecutive season, averaging 27.7 points a game. They lost the Conference Finals match-up versus the Dallas Mavericks inside five games, after defeating Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlie in the 2011 NBA play-offs. He was awarded the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award after scoring 36 points in the All-Star Game. In the 2012 playoffs, they defeated Dallas, the Lakers, and the San Antonio Spurs en route to the Finals where they lost to Miami Heat. He led all players with 30.6 points per game, doing so on a 54.8 shooting rate for NBA Finals.
MVP season (2013–14)
2013-14 was the highlight season of Kevin Durant’s career, averaging 35.9 points per game while scoring 30 or more points in 12 straight games, including a career-high 54 points against the Golden State Warriors. He went on to break Michael Jordan’s record of scoring 25 or more points in 41 consecutive matches. He went on to win the NBA Most Valuable Player behind averages of 32 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, while Thunders finished the year with 59 wins.

First ring and Finals MVP (2016–2017)
Durant declared his intention to join the Warriors in The Players’ Tribune on July 4. Durant officially inked a two-year, $54.3 million contract with Golden State on July 7, with a player option after the first year. Durant returned from injury in time for the 2017 NBA playoffs, helping the Warriors reach their third consecutive Finals and become the first team in NBA history to go 12–0 in the postseason. In Game 1 of the series, Durant led the Warriors to victory over LeBron James and the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers with 38 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Durant led Golden State in scoring in every game of the Finals, averaging 35.2 points per game.
Brooklyn Nets (2019–present)
Year absence (2019–2020)
Durant declared on June 30, 2019, that he would sign with the Brooklyn Nets when the July moratorium ended on July 6. Durant signed a sign-and-trade contract with Brooklyn on July 7. Durant did not play in the 2019–20 season and later disclosed that he had decided to sit out the full season immediately after suffering an injury in June 2019. Durant and three other Nets players tested positive for COVID-19 on March 17, 2020.
Return to the court (2020–2021)
Durant made his Nets debut on December 22, 2020, scoring 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a 125–99 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Durant set a season-high with 42 points in a 122–115 win over the Orlando Magic on January 16, 2021. Durant suffered a hamstring injury in February that required him to miss 23 games. Durant was fined $50,000 by the NBA on April 2 for private messages he sent in a quarrel with actor Michael Rapaport. On April 7, 2021, Durant made his comeback, scoring 17 points off the bench in a 139–119 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Nets finished with a 48–24 record and the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Durant scored 42 points in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs, leading the Warriors to a 3–1 series lead over the Boston Celtics. He finished the series with 24 points in a 123–109 victory in Game 5.
