The Boston Celtics bounced in a big way against the Miami Heat in Second game of the Eastern Conference playoffs on Thursday night, winning 127-102. The Celtics have now taken home-court advantage and tied the series at one game apiece. Game 3 will take place in Boston on Saturday night.
It was all Heat early on, as they took a double-digit lead. However, that was their only high point of the night, as the Celtics turned the game around, going on a 17-0 run and taking a double-digit lead themselves by the conclusion of the first quarter. They broke away in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 25-point lead, and the game never looked out of their hands. Jayson Tatum had 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists to lead the team, while Jaylen Brown had 24 points and eight rebounds.
Marcus Smart, on the other hand, bounced back from a foot injury that kept him out of Game 1 with 24 points, nine rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals. The Celtics had another strong shooting night, making 20 of 40 3-point attempts.
Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 29 points and six rebounds despite receiving little assistance. Gabe Vincent was the only other starter to score in double figures, with 14 points. PJ Tucker was also lost to a knee contusion, and his future injury status is unknown.
Heat Might Face Some More Injury Problems
In Game 1, the Celtics’ injury problems were highlighted, with both Smart and Horford unable to participate. The Heat, on the other hand, are having issues with injuries of their own. Kyle Lowry, the veteran point guard, has been out with a hamstring injury since Game 4 of the second round against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Heat may now have to pay attention to PJ Tucker. He was forced to leave Game 2 due to a knee contusion and did not return for the second half. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra stated that Tucker is confident he will be ready for Game 3, but he will be evaluated further on Friday, including an MRI.
Tucker, 37, is one of the league’s hardest players, so you can guarantee he’ll be on the field. Nonetheless, the Heat are concerned since he is one of their most essential defenders.
