Spencer Dinwiddie scored 21 points coming off the bench to help the Dallas Mavericks secure a convincing 129-114 win against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Naji Marshall contributed 24 points, leading the Mavericks to their fifth consecutive victory over the Knicks, showcasing their continued dominance in the series.
Mavericks Shine Without Luka Doncic
In their fourth straight game without Luka Doncic due to a sprained wrist, the Mavericks demonstrated their depth. Mavericks Dallas emerged victorious in three out of the four games by Spencer Dinwiddie, teamwork and precise shooting. “Spencer Dinwiddie shared that everyone is stepping up in Luka’s absence,” after the victory.
The Mavericks had a strong start, taking advantage of the Knicks’ poor shooting performance. In the opening quarter, New York struggled, shooting 3-for-18 and missing all eight three-point shots, enabling Dallas to take a 28-15 lead. At the half, the Mavericks led 60-38, with Marshall extending their largest advantage to 24 points with a three-pointer in the second quarter.
Jalen Brunson Shines in Return to Dallas
Jalen Brunson, who was up against his old team, put on a remarkable performance by scoring 37 points for the Knicks. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, but it wasn’t sufficient to overcome New York’s early difficulties.
In spite of a late push that reduced the gap to 12 points with a little over two minutes remaining, the Mavericks secured the victory with crucial plays by Kyrie Irving, who provided important assists to Dereck Lively II and Marshall.
Balanced Attack Powers Dallas
Four players from Dallas managed to score 20 points or more. P.J. Washington achieved his fourth consecutive double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Mavericks outperformed the Knicks by shooting 56.5% compared to the Knicks’ 46.5%.
Knicks player OG Anunoby, who scored a personal best 40 points in the last game, only managed to score eight points while shooting 3-for-15 in the current game.
