The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game is set to continue its tradition as a highlight event, even in an Olympic year. This summer, the game will feature Team USA facing off against Team WNBA, a format designed to capitalize on the Olympic excitement. Here’s what you need to know about the event and the voting process:

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, July 20
  • Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona
  • TV: ABC
  • Live Stream: Available on Facebook (Try for free)

Fan Voting:

Fan voting for this year’s All-Star Game opens on June 13 and runs through June 29. Here’s how the process works:

  • Voting Process: Fans can vote for up to 10 players, including those on the Team USA roster, with a selection of four backcourt and six frontcourt players.
  • Two-for-One Voting Days: Votes will count twice on June 16, 22, and 27.
  • Frequency: Fans can vote once per day.

Selection Process:

The All-Stars will be chosen through a combination of fan, player, and media votes. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Fan Votes: 50%
  • Player Votes: 25%
  • Media Votes: 25%

Players and media members each submit a single ballot, while fans can vote daily.

Changes in 2024:

Unlike recent years where captains picked their teams from the pool of selected players, this year’s selection will follow a different process:

  1. Top-10 Vote Getters: Automatically named All-Stars. Those not on Team USA will be placed on Team WNBA.
  2. Next 36 Vote Getters: Provided to coaches to fill out the 12-player roster for Team WNBA.
  3. Starters: determined by the coaching staff of both teams.

This year’s format shift is designed to highlight the unique competitive edge of Team USA against the best of the WNBA, enhancing the excitement surrounding both the All-Star Game and the Olympic Games.

The WNBA is committed to making the All-Star Game an annual highlight, regardless of the Olympic schedule. With fan voting and a mix of established stars and rising talents, the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix promises to be an exciting showcase of women’s basketball at its best.

Make sure to cast your votes starting June 13 and stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable event.
