The NBA has officially released the group play schedule for the 2024 NBA Cup, promising fans an exciting start to the season with several high-stakes matchups. The tournament, previously known as the In-Season Tournament, will kick off on November 12th, featuring marquee games such as the New York Knicks versus the Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Mavericks facing off against the Golden State Warriors.
Much like last year’s debut, the NBA Cup divides all 30 teams into six groups of five, with the grouping based on their records from the previous season. Each team will play the others in their group once, with these games taking place on designated “Cup Nights,” which are set for Tuesdays and Fridays between November 12th and December 3rd.

At the end of the group stage, the top team from each group will progress to the knockout rounds. Joining them will be two wild card teams—one from each conference—that performed well in the group stage but didn’t win their group. These eight teams will then compete in a single-elimination format, starting December 10th. The semifinals and championship games will be held in Las Vegas on December 14th and 17th, respectively.
While the NBA Cup results will count towards regular-season records and could influence playoff seeding, winning the tournament does not guarantee any direct postseason advantages. However, there are substantial financial rewards on the line. Last year, each player on the victorious Los Angeles Lakers squad took home $500,000, while players on the runner-up Indiana Pacers received $200,000. Semifinal and quarterfinal participants also received payouts, and this year’s prizes are expected to be even higher due to the latest collective bargaining agreement.
In addition to the cash incentives, the NBA Cup will also honor individual excellence with a Most Valuable Player award and an All-Tournament Team.
