Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers has been chosen as the recipient of the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award during the offseason. The recognition acknowledges Maxey’s commitment to assisting young people in Philadelphia and his Dallas community via his Tyrese Maxey Foundation. As a result of this acknowledgment, Maxey will be awarded the Bob Lanier trophy, and the NBA will contribute $10,000 to his foundation.
Inspiring Through Camps and Scholarships
During this summer, Maxey hosted the inaugural Tyrese Maxey Foundation Friends and Family Weekend in Philadelphia. He organized a no-cost basketball camp for children between the ages of 7 and 12, offering coaching, prizes, and a meal with Maxey. The next weekend, he expanded his activities to Dallas by hosting an additional camp and providing a complimentary golf clinic for young people. Altogether, Maxey’s camps had an effect on more than 700 children.
At the event, Maxey revealed two scholarships—one for a college student and another for a community partner—highlighting his dedication to education. He promised to give $1 million to youth organizations in Philadelphia. Showcasing his deep connection to the city where he has been playing since entering the NBA in 2020.
