In the wake of being omitted from the starting lineup for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in the Western Conference, Steph Curry Reacts exhibited humility and sportsmanship by offering commendations to the rising stars who secured their spots.
Following the Golden State Warriors’ narrow 134-133 loss to the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center on Thursday, Curry was queried about his absence from the All-Star starters. Without a hint of bitterness, he promptly redirected attention to the stellar performances of Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

“I mean, you got two guys that are playing amazing this year, Luka [Doncic] and Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander],” Curry conveyed to reporters. “Been around doing this for a very long time, and the fact that it’s a talking point, I’m not after nine healthy years … those two guys are playing amazing; they deserve it.”
Although Curry won’t be featured in the starting lineup when the All-Star Game unfolds on Feb. 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the sharpshooting guard expressed hope for involvement in All-Star Weekend activities in a different role.
“Hopefully, I’m there in Indiana in whatever capacity,” Curry remarked. “But to still be doing it at this stage, it’s always a challenge, you don’t ever take for granted how hard it is to be recognized in that way every year.”
Amid an impressive 2023-24 NBA season, Curry boasts averages of 26.7 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game, maintaining a shooting accuracy of 40.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line across 38 appearances.
Despite Curry’s team-leading 33 points in the Warriors’ recent loss to the Kings, it marks the first time since the 2012-13 season that the two-time NBA MVP has been excluded from the starting lineup in the All-Star Game, considering his health.
Anticipated to be among the NBA All-Star reserves based on fan voting returns, Steph Curry Reacts looks forward to the official announcement on Feb. 1, hopeful that his contributions will be recognized in the midseason showcase.
