Steph Curry Discusses Decision to Play Against Celtics Despite Knee Injury

Following the Golden State Warriors’ crushing defeat against the Boston Celtics, star player Steph Curry addressed concerns about his knee injury and the decision to play in Sunday’s game despite the setback.

Curry, who sustained the knee injury during Friday’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors, assured reporters that he felt confident about his ability to play against the Celtics. Despite the injury, Curry emphasized the importance of managing swelling and ensuring he could perform without experiencing significant pain.

“We just wanted to make sure it didn’t swell up any more than it already did,” Curry stated. “I woke up this morning [and] it was in a good spot when I tried to test it to see if I could not feel any pain when I was out there and that’s how it went. So it was a good decision to play just based on how it felt.”

Despite his determination to contribute, Curry’s playing time was limited to just 16 minutes during the game, marking his lowest duration on the court for the entire season. Nonetheless, Steph Curry emphasized that the physical demands and preparation required for the game were similar to a full contest, highlighting the rigorous nature of competition in the NBA.

“It still feels like a game because you have to do your preparation stuff,” Curry explained. “Even in the 16 to 17 minutes I played, it was physical. You’re trying to find any type of life out there, but we do have two days off before another back-to-back, so got to take advantage of that rest.”

Despite the disappointing outcome against the Celtics, the Warriors can reflect on a successful road trip, finishing with a 3-1 record. With a brief break before their next game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Curry and the Warriors have an opportunity to regroup and prepare for their upcoming challenges.
