In the arena of sports, where age is often just a number, Shaquille O’Neal, the towering figure of basketball prowess, finds himself grappling with the unwelcome reminder of his advancing years. The recent episode of his podcast, ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, saw the NBA legend in a candid tête-à-tête with quarterback Kirk Cousins, catalyzing a clash between past and present, youth and experience. Amidst the banter and camaraderie, underlying it all was Shaq’s Struggle with Aging, a topic subtly woven into their conversation, hinting at the inevitable passage of time and the challenges it brings, even for sporting titans like Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq’s Struggle with Aging: Lessons Acquired from the Podcast Big
Engaging in a highly animated conversation, Shaq’s co-host Adam Lefkoe put in effort to weave such controversy, in the eerie familiar scenario. He brought Cousins into the spotlight, no wonder why, the incident didn’t take long to go viral. The question posed was innocent enough: as an example Cousins was able to see how great Shaq played back in the days or he was watching their performances that he had a major impact on the way he developed his own skills and played the game. Nevertheless, that comment hit a raw spot in Shaq it plunged him into visceral grief, which can be venomous.
Out of the blue, it all came down to Shaq. “I’m not old, am I?…why do you have to be the one who makes me feel that I’m 75 years old?!”, the banter took an ironic turn leaving Shaq looking at himself in the mirror and questioning his own mortality in the presence of a much younger personality.
Still, though the playful banter was alive, Kirk Cousins along with the others became the key factor contributing to the drama. Looking him in the eye, with a slight grin, Erik would tolerate a wrong correction by Shaq, telling a humorous joke about “whenever I was this tall,” he would say playing to the fact that Shaq was taller compared to the official sports height he had as a young man himself.
It becomes crystal clear to think that the disparity is not only just about the ages of these athletes as they are about 52 and 35 respectively. The gap gets wider yet later on when we compare Shaq’s long glorious season to Cousins who was not even in kindergarten in the first place.

Thinking back over Shaq moving from Orlando to Los Angeles, Cousins felt an identification with the career he had embarked upon, which, nevertheless, corresponded to a completely different career environment.
Not withstanding the assistance that Shaq gets from his age, he becomes wiser which is a daily reminder that the small things in life matter and that a life of happiness is worth pursuit. Throughout the years, he may have dreamily reminisced about the times when he was very youthful; however, one thing stands out; he is immortal and full of life. In fact, this stands as a reflection of his youthfulness of soul and immortal courage.
