Throughout his career, James Harden has achieved numerous accomplishments such as being named to the NBA All-Star team ten times, earning a spot on the All-NBA First Team six times, being awarded the MVP title in 2018, and winning a gold medal with Team USA at the Olympics. However, even with his impressive track record, he still has not been able to win an NBA championship. Harden knows his opportunities to win a championship are dwindling as his career progresses. Responding to negative feedback, Harden acknowledged, “In the past four years, what often goes unrecognized is my willingness to give up playing time and reduce my workload in order to pursue a championship.”
The Challenges of Winning a Title
Harden is open and honest about the challenges of reaching his final objective. Achieving a championship victory is difficult. Admitting that it is highly challenging, he explained that good health, talent, and timing need to coincide. Even under pressure, Harden is content with his career, stating, “I have no regrets…”. I have the opportunity to play basketball, enjoy myself, and take on a leadership role.” Currently, Harden is embracing the next chapter of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Harden’s Challenge with the Clippers
As Harden moves closer to the end of his career, the expectation to secure an NBA championship becomes more intense. Ironically, he is currently in possession of a franchise that has never secured a championship. The Clippers almost made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2021 but ultimately came up short. Following the signing of a $70 million, two-year extension this summer, Harden’s mission is straightforward: guide the Clippers to their inaugural championship.
Capturing a championship with the Clippers would be a momentous milestone for both the team and Harden’s reputation, signifying the peak of his lengthy and prosperous journey.
