NBA Imposes $25K Fine on Dillon Brooks for Reckless Conduct
The ejection occurred during Brooks’ preseason debut with the Houston Rockets, not long after leaving the Memphis Grizzlies. In this brief appearance, he played for less than five minutes before the ejection. The NBA made an official announcement about this fine.
In the league’s statement, it was stated that Dillon Brooks was fined $25,000 for recklessly making contact with Daniel Theis, the center for the Indiana Pacers, in the groin area. The incident took place with 7:27 remaining in the first quarter of the game, where the Rockets secured a 122-103 victory over the Indiana Pacers at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Due to his previous reputation, which he earned during his time with the Grizzlies, Brooks is not given the benefit of the doubt when incidents like this occur. Being ejected from the game and receiving this fine clearly demonstrates that he faced consequences for his actions against Theis.
Brooks expressed his belief that officials often target him, suggesting that this may influence their decisions. Nevertheless, any contact in the groin area is subject to close scrutiny by the league.
