During this summer, Biyombo entered free agency and has now put pen to paper with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies’ public relations department made the announcement without disclosing the contract terms.

Biyombo, who was the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, has played for 12 seasons with teams such as the Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Toronto Raptors. Over his career, he has maintained averages of 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, shooting at a 53.3% field goal rate in 799 regular-season games. He has also appeared in 40 NBA playoff games.

With Steven Adams out for the season, Biyombo could potentially make a significant contribution to the team. The Grizzlies have faced a challenging start to the season, losing their first five games and most recently suffering a 133-109 defeat to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Wednesday. Their next game is scheduled for Friday night in Oregon against the Portland Trail Blazers.

In the previous season, the Grizzlies secured the second seed in the Western Conference but were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
