LeBron James was taken aback upon learning he’s older than Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy. Despite being the NBA’s oldest player, James finds himself senior to a few of the coaches he faces. This realization struck during the Los Angeles Lakers’ victory over the Utah Jazz, prompting a moment of surprise for James when a reporter highlighted the age gap between him and Coach Hardy.
“Wait, I’m older than the head coach?” James exclaimed in his postgame interview. “Wow, that’s a good one. You got me there. That’s unbelievable.”
In addition to Hardy, LeBron surpasses the ages of other coaches like Mark Daigneault of the Oklahoma City Thunder (38) and Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics (35). This underscores James’ remarkable longevity in the league, where he continues to excel as one of the NBA’s elite players.
James, a four-time NBA Champion, shows no signs of slowing down. He recently made history by becoming the first player to reach 39,000 points during the win over the Jazz. Barring injuries, he’s poised to surpass 40,000 points early in 2024.
The Lakers’ upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks won’t present the same age surprise for James. Jason Kidd, the Mavericks’ head coach, is 50, boasting a considerable age difference of around a dozen years compared to James.
