Kristaps Porziņģis (Latvian pronunciation: [ˈkris.taps ˈpuɔr.ziɲ.ɟis) is a Latvian professional basketball player, currently playing for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He can play both the power forward and center positions. He is also one of the tallest active players in the NBA, standing at 7 feet 3 inches (2.21 m) tall.

Porziis, who was born in Liepaja, began his professional career in 2012 with Sevilla in the Euro League. Porziis climbed fast through the team’s younger ranks, eventually becoming the senior team’s face in 2013. He went on to win the Euro Cup Basketball Rising Star title in 2015, becoming the youngest recipient of the award at the age of 18. He declared for the NBA draught the next summer, and the New York Knicks selected him fourth overall.

Porziis was regarded as the Knicks’ potential cornerstone in New York, but he was transferred to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019 amid disagreements with the front staff. Porziis’ time in Dallas was marred by injury, and he was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2022.
