Hornets Eye Jordan Ott for Head Coaching Role
Additionally, in addition to the team that Jordan Ott and Jerry Stackhouse are rumored to have in mind, the Hornets are considering other candidates in the vein of David Adelman from Denver Nuggets, Charles Lee from Boston Celtics, Jordi Fernandez from Sacramento Kings, Jay Larranaga from Los Angeles Clippers, Kevin Young from Phoenix Suns, and Lindsey Harding, currently the assistant coach in the G League
A side note to the story, the Scope of Hornets’ selection is inclined in the direction of Royal Ivey, an assistant coach from the Houston Rockets, to fill the vacant post.
Jerry Stackhouse was the head coach for Vanderbilt for five seasons and was unexpectedly fired in March, however, he has a mixture of NBA and collegiate coaching experience. And outgoing head coach of Vanderbilt, after a season of actual struggle and during player recruitment, could not meet standards partly because of the current student-athletes market situation.
Although Ott is not known for being a crossover player, he has vast experience in the organization with the Lakers and Brooklyn Nets and even served as the interim head coach for the Lakers in the 2022 Summer League.
The allegiance of Ott can also have the duo reuniting with Jeff Peterson and Ryan Gisriel, the Nets’ former front office members, as they recently joined the Hornets by playing different roles in the organization.
Opportunities for a new coaching staff emerge when the Hornets try to fill a vacant position which Steve Clifford had held until recently and becomes a part of team development process.
