At the age of 35, Ellington is younger than one of his new colleagues, six-time All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry, who is 37.
Ellington had two stints with the Lakers, playing for teams that did not make the playoffs. His first tenure was during the 2014-15 season alongside Hall of Fame shooting guard Kobe Bryant, and he returned during the 2021-22 season, which was the only year the Lakers missed the playoffs with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster.
Following his second term with the Lakers, Ellington did not secure a spot with another NBA team. Over his 770 regular season games, he holds career averages of 8.0 points with shooting splits of .410/.382/.843, along with 2.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.5 steals per game.
