Draymond Green Expelled After Clash with Jusuf Nurkic in Warriors vs. Suns Game
During Tuesday night’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns, forward Draymond Green Expelled faced an ejection for striking center Jusuf Nurkic in the head. The incident occurred when Green swung his arm, resulting in a Flagrant 2 violation and automatic ejection.

Amidst a tussle for positioning in the third quarter, Green’s sudden swing connected with Nurkic’s head, causing the 7-foot center to fall. The referees promptly reviewed the incident and concluded by ejecting Green from the game.

Although Green expressed intentions to sell a call rather than inflict harm, he acknowledged the unintended contact with Nurkic. Apologizing for the incident, Green clarified his actions, stating, “A replay is never gonna look good, but I know my intentions.”

Coach Steve Kerr emphasized the necessity for Green to maintain composure amidst frustration, while Nurkic expressed concern over Green’s actions, suggesting he may require assistance beyond basketball.

This marks Green’s 19th career ejection, the highest among active players, and his third ejection this season. Previous incidents include a double technical foul ejection in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and an altercation involving a chokehold on Rudy Gobert, leading to a five-game suspension.

Green contested the league’s consistent punitive measures, expressing a need for fair assessment based on current actions rather than past incidents. However, given his history, further league sanctions for the Nurkic altercation are anticipated.

Despite Draymond Green Expelled contributions this season, averaging 10.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game, his ejection contributed to the Warriors’ 119-116 loss against the Suns, leaving the team with a 10-13 record for the season.
