Cole Swider will be signed by the Miami Heat, claims Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Cole Swider recently completed his first season in the NBA, playing in seven games for the Los Angeles Lakers and averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
Swider was a free agent last month after the Lakers released him, making him available to sign with any team in the league.
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium claims that Swider will sign a contract with the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon.
The following is via Charania: “Ex-Lakers G/F Cole Swider is signing a deal with the Miami Heat, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”
After playing four seasons of collegiate basketball (three for Villanova and one for Syracuse), Swider initially went undrafted last summer.
Swider played for the South Bay Lakers in the G League in addition to his time in the NBA.
He played in four Showcase Cup games and one G League playoff game, and he averaged a very effective 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 43.6% from three-point range.
Swider might turn out to be a wise choice for the Heat given that he has demonstrated his shooting prowess in both the G League and college.
Swider wrote: “God’s plan! Blessed for this opportunity ?? “
The Miami Heat recently completed a season in which they finished as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference yet advanced to the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons (they lost to the Denver Nuggets in five games).
