During that season, the former Georgia Tech standout maintained an average of 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, with an impressive 51.6% field goal accuracy over 39 games.
Favors briefly joined the Atlanta Hawks on a ten-day contract last season, although he did not see any on-court action.
The Chicago Bulls officially confirmed the signing of the 32-year-old forward to their training camp roster on Monday evening.
As per the official statement from the Chicago Bulls, “OFFICIAL: We have signed center Derrick Favors and forward Kahlil Whitney to camp contracts.”
Derrick Favors began his NBA journey as the third overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, selected by the New Jersey Nets after just one season of college basketball at Georgia Tech.
Throughout his 12-year NBA career, Favors has played for the Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans, New Jersey Nets, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
His career statistics include averages of 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, with a solid 53.4% field goal percentage over 790 regular season games. Additionally, he has participated in 42 NBA playoff games.
The Chicago Bulls are coming off a season in which they secured the tenth seed in the Eastern Conference, finishing with a 40-42 record. While they have missed the NBA playoffs in five of the last six seasons, the team boasts a talented roster led by DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.
Their regular season kicks off on October 25th when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
