Cam Reddish’s Defensive Prowess Shines: Among NBA Leaders in November Steals

In his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, former Duke basketball standout Cam Reddish is making a significant impact on the defensive end. The Lakers have found success when Reddish sees substantial playing time, especially when he showcases his steal expertise.

The Lakers boast an impressive 4-1 record this season when Cam Reddish logs over 30 minutes on the court. Equally noteworthy is their 5-2 record when Reddish records three or more steals, emphasizing the pivotal role he plays in disrupting opponents’ possessions. On the flip side, the Lakers struggle with a 1-3 record in games where Reddish doesn’t play at all, underscoring his value to the team.

Reddish, known for his long wingspan and defensive prowess, currently ranks sixth in the league in steal percentage, stealing the ball in 3.0 percent of opponents’ possessions when he’s on the floor. In November, he recorded 24 steals, placing him at the sixth spot in the NBA, just five steals behind the month’s leader, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite a career-low average of 7.2 points per game this season, Reddish’s defensive contributions are reaching new heights, with an average of 1.5 steals per game (2.2 per 36 minutes), representing a career high in this category.

While his shooting percentages may not be stellar, with a 42.0 percent field goal rate and a 31.9 percent three-point accuracy, Reddish remains a key asset for the Lakers. As they currently sit at No. 7 in the Western Conference standings, Reddish and the Lakers are gearing up for a crucial quarterfinal matchup against the Phoenix Suns in the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament.

Fans and teammates alike are recognizing and appreciating Reddish’s defensive prowess, highlighting his growing impact as a crucial asset for the Lakers on both ends of the court.
