The Brooklyn Nets are preparing for a tough season, with low expectations in place. Once they lose their main players, the team might have a hard time winning matches and could possibly finish close to the bottom of the rankings. Yet, there is a possibility of a positive outcome – winning the NBA draft lottery and possibly acquiring Duke freshman Cooper Flagg, who is expected to be the number one pick.

Chances of Landing the No. 1 Pick

Even though they were at the bottom of the league, the Nets would still only have a 14% shot at getting the top pick. According to Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report, despite having a terrible season, Brooklyn is likely to have an 86% probability of not acquiring Flagg. However, the team might trade away experienced players such as Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith to improve their draft position.

A Rebuild with a Purpose

The Nets lack star players for the upcoming season, but if they can win the lottery and pick Flagg in the draft, those defeats might result in a more promising future. Although it will be a challenging season for Brooklyn supporters, the possibility of acquiring a game-changing player like Flagg may justify the rebuilding process.
