Marcus Smart becomes the first player to win the award twice since NBA decided to debut its Hustle Stats
NBA has announced their annual Hustle Award winner and it’s been given to Celtics star, Marcus Smart. Marcus Smart. The Hustle Award was introduced in 2016 when NBA decided to debut their Hustle stats. The award is given to the players who don’t often show up in the traditional opposition box, scoring points but do the defensive work for the team.
Hustle stats include deflections, loose balls recovered, charges drawn, screen assists, contested shots, and box-outs. Marcus become the first player to win the Hustle Award twice, after being awarded the same honor in the 2018 season.
Marcus Smart also grabbed the award for the best defensive player of the 2021-22 season.
