In his latest podcast, Stephen didn’t mince words, blaming LeBron James for the attention on his son, Bronny James. Smith’s remarks coincide with Bronny experiencing major challenges during his first season as a rookie with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“This Is LeBron’s Doing”

Stephen commented on the choice of LeBron James to take a break from social media following criticism of the performance of Bronny James in the NBA. LeBron posted before leaving, emphasizing the criticism aimed at his son as “negativity.” Nevertheless, Smith denied the assertion that the media generated this pressure.

Bronny is not prepared for the NBA. Smith stated that it was not time yet. The child shows promise, but we need to allow him to grow and improve. The criticism he’s receiving is unjust, particularly since he is only beginning his career in the workforce.

Legacy Adds Pressure

Smith asserted that Bronny’s draft position was greatly impacted by his father’s reputation. Following a tough experience in college, Bronny has encountered difficult challenges in the NBA Summer League, preseason, and G League. Critics have expressed doubts about his preparedness due to his limited playtime in the regular season.

Smith highlighted LeBron’s public remarks, including asserting that Bronny was superior to certain NBA players currently in the league. Smith attributed this to LeBron’s influence. “Do you believe individuals would ignore remarks of that nature?”

A Call for Accountability

Stephen also condemned LeBron James for taking a break from social media, indicating that he should take responsibility for the stress he has caused Bronny James. Smith stressed that LeBron has placed the most pressure on Bronny, nobody else.

Even though he had criticisms, Smith motivated Bronny to continue putting in the effort. Bronny will progress. Smith concluded by saying that he expects him to improve his skills and show his worth in the league.

While Bronny faces the difficulties of being LeBron’s child in the NBA, the basketball community remains attentive.
