Even with his Achilles injury, the Milwaukee Bucks are considering bringing back Thanasis Antetokounmpo. According to reports by Keith Smith of Spotrac, the Bucks are trying to open up a spot on their roster in order to re-sign Giannis Antetokounmpo’s elder brother, primarily for his significant impact in the team’s locker room. Despite having a successful May surgery to fix his Achilles, Thanasis is not expected to participate in games this season. However, the Bucks view his impact outside the court as extremely important.

The Impact of Family Ties on the Bucks’ Strategy

The Bucks have made it a priority to retain Thanasis on their team in order to ensure Giannis remains satisfied. This tactic was a major factor in Giannis agreeing to a three-year, $186 million contract extension with the team the previous offseason. Even though Thanasis will not be playing this season, his connection with Giannis is still an important aspect of Milwaukee’s strategies. During his time with the Bucks for five seasons, Thanasis has maintained an average of 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Roster Moves: MarJon Beauchamp’s Future in Question

Reportedly, the Bucks are willing to trade MarJon Beauchamp in order to make room for Thanasis on their roster. The 24-year-old Milwaukee draft pick of 2022 demonstrated potential, especially with his impressive 40.0% accuracy from the three-point line in the previous season. Yet, with the current roster at capacity, Beauchamp’s fate in Milwaukee seems uncertain as the team looks into bringing on a wing player focused on defense.

Keeping Giannis Happy Remains the Priority

The Bucks’ desire to extend contract of Thanasis Antetokounmpo demonstrates their dedication to keeping Giannis happy with the team. While Thanasis will not be competing in games this season, his involvement could be essential in maintaining team spirit as the Bucks strive for a prosperous season. In Milwaukee, ensuring Giannis is happy off the court is as important as making plays on it.
