Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball recently made headlines with an impressive performance in a five-on-five scrimmage, where he competed alongside several other NBA figures. The run, which was documented by longtime NBA trainer Chris Johnson and shared on YouTube, marks a significant milestone in Ball’s long recovery journey.

During the scrimmage, Ball played alongside NBA talents such as Jaren Jackson Jr., Jalen Johnson, Daniel Gafford, DeAndre Jordan, and JaVale McGee. Ball’s performance was nothing short of outstanding, with his shooting stroke looking sharp as he drained deep three-pointers off screens. His exceptional court vision was also on full display, as he made several precise passes and lobs to set up his teammates.

This is an encouraging sign for Lonzo Ball fans who have been anxiously awaiting Ball’s return to the court. After dealing with a gruelling series of knee injuries that required three separate surgeries since January 2022—including a cartilage transplant—Ball’s progress has been a focal point for the Bulls’ front office. Following the NBA Draft, Bulls Vice President Artūras Karnišovas provided an update on Ball’s recovery.

“He is moving along,” Karnišovas stated, reflecting on Ball’s current condition. “We don’t know what he’s going to look like in a month or two. We’re just going to take one step at a time and hopefully, he’s going to be ready for training camp. He continues working. He comes here to work out and then he continues his work in LA. We’re going to touch base next week. I think he’s going to be around the team also in summer league.”

Ball’s latest appearance on the court is an indication that he may be nearing the end of a challenging three-year recovery period. Despite the severity of his injuries, including the complex knee surgeries, Ball is showing signs of regaining full strength and readiness.

“He is clear to do pretty much everything on the floor,” Karnišovas added. “We continue to strengthen him and, like I said, the next two months we’ll see what it’s going to look like.”

With training camp on the horizon, the Bulls are hopeful that Ball will be ready to return to full action by the fall. Fans and the team alike are keeping a close eye on his progress, eagerly anticipating his comeback.
