The Milwaukee Bucks have finally finalized and signed Latvian center Anzejs Pasecniks to a two-way contract. Pasecniks, 28, has NBA and international basketball training and hopes to effectively play for the Bucks in both the NBA and G League.
NBA and International Experience
Pasecniks has played earlier for the Washington Wizards, and he has participated in 28 NBA games. He was released during the middle of the 2020–21 season after playing only a single match but retained his career and went to Europe. In the following three years, he continued to feature for Spanish clubs, namely for Coosur Real Betis and Zunder Palencia apart from Metropolitans 92 which is based in France. The previous season in Palencia, he scored on average 13. 0 points and 4. 8 rebounds per ACB game.
Early NBA Journey
Pasecniks entered the NBA after being drafted 25th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2017 NBA Draft before the rights were traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. His rights were released by the Sixers in the 2019 NBA draft to sign with the Wizards as a two-way player. He too appeared in 15 games in the following season with the Capital City Go-Go which is one of the Wizards’ G League affiliates.
Role with the Bucks
But with the agreement of a two-way contract, Pasecniks can switch between the Bucks and the Wisconsin Herd G League team. This flexibility benefits the Bucks by giving them more players for depth and for Pasecniks, it gives him more chances in the NBA.
Anzejs Pasecniks professional career at VEF Riga before his NBA debut, he was three times Latvian League champion. He spent 2015-2019 at Herbalife Gran Canaria Club of Spain. His international career also involved assisting Latvia get to the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he had his first major tour with the senior team.
