Devin Booker, Team USA star and Phoenix Suns guard, has been making waves both on and off the basketball court. Recently photographed in Paris with his sister Mya, Booker is gearing up to capture his second Olympic gold medal. Mya, a familiar face to Suns fans, often accompanies her brother to games, providing a source of joy and grounding for the star athlete.

Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns guard, was drafted 13th overall in the 2015 NBA draft, and his close bond with Mya has been evident since. They were photographed celebrating his draft selection together, a moment that highlighted their strong sibling relationship. Booker has spoken candidly about the profound impact Mya has had on his life, emphasizing how she keeps their family grounded and brings endless joy.

“She’s our everything. She changed all our lives. She changed them for the better. There’s no one in the world who brings more joy to me or to our family. She puts things in perspective for me a lot and keeps me grounded,” Devin Booker shared in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

Mya’s influence extends beyond personal joy, motivating Booker to engage deeply with the Special Olympics. Since 2015, Booker has been heavily involved with Special Olympics Arizona. His dedication to the cause is well-documented, with efforts ranging from bringing individuals like Jenna Warren and Noah Smith to the NBA Draft Lottery to coaching at the NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game.

Booker’s commitment to Special Olympics is not just about appearances. His involvement is rooted in personal experience and genuine passion. “I’ve celebrated the accomplishments and witnessed the challenges my sister Mya has experienced as a person with intellectual disabilities. She motivates me every day, and I’m humbled to be part of Special Olympics, a global organization with a mission to help spread awareness about the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities,” Booker explained.

Booker’s contributions to the Special Olympics have not gone unnoticed. Following the 2020–21 season, he was honored with the NBA Cares Community Assist Award after helping Special Olympics Arizona secure a $100,000 grant through his Starting Five charity. Founded by Booker, the charity pledged to donate $500,000 annually to five local nonprofits in the Phoenix area, including Special Olympics Arizona.

The grant enabled the organization to build a basketball court, providing a dedicated space for Special Olympics athletes to practice and compete. Booker’s efforts have extended beyond Arizona, involving global initiatives such as working with Special Olympics China and being named a Global Ambassador for the organization.

Balancing professional success with personal commitments, Booker has demonstrated how athletes can leverage their platforms for meaningful impact. His relationship with Mya has grounded him and inspired his advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities. This blend of personal motivation and professional dedication underscores Booker’s unique influence both on and off the court.

In the midst of his Olympic preparations, Booker’s commitment to his sister and the Special Olympics remains unwavering. His story is a testament to the power of family, the importance of community involvement, and the potential for athletes to drive social change.

Devin Booker’s story is a compelling blend of athletic excellence and heartfelt advocacy. His close relationship with his sister Mya offers a poignant reminder of the personal motivations that can drive public figures to effect positive change. Booker’s involvement with the Special Olympics highlights the broader responsibilities and opportunities that come with athletic fame. It’s a narrative that transcends basketball, emphasizing the impact one individual can have on their community and beyond.
