Newcomers Alex Sarr and Carlton “Bub” Carrington, guided the Washington Wizards to a win against the Atlanta Hawks, led by top pick Zaccharie Risacher. Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, the Wizards achieved a 94-86 victory in the NBA 2K25 Summer League.

Hawks’ Strong Start

The Hawks started the game strong, finishing the first quarter ahead with a 23-14 score. Nevertheless, this initial control was misleading as the game went on. The Wizards gradually reduced the nine-point gap during the middle periods, ultimately holding a one-point advantage going into the final quarter.

Wizards’ Impressive Comeback

Atlanta fought hard to take a six-point lead with 5:19 left on the clock. Nevertheless, Washington ended the game with a dominating 20-6 run to clinch the win. Carrington led the Wizards with 19 points while also contributing nine rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and one block. Justin Champagnie added 18 points, five assists, four rebounds, one steal, and one block to the game. Sarr stood out with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and one steal. Johnny Davis equaled Sarr’s points and also contributed six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.

Hawks’ Key Performers

Risacher, who was selected first overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, was the top scorer for the Hawks with 18 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and one block. Mouhamed Gueye contributed 16 points, along with four rebounds, one assist, three steals, and one block. Dylan Windler scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out one assist, and recorded one steal. Both Miles Norris and Keaton Wallace scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds each, with Wallace adding six assists to his stat line.

Looking Ahead

The Hawks will play against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday evening, and the Wizards will compete against the Houston Rockets earlier in the day. Both teams will strive to improve on their displays and further nurture their young talents.
