The Toronto Raptors are putting in a lot of effort to address the issue concerning 28-year-old power forward Sasha Vezenkov. With possible future advancements in mind, Vezenkov has chosen to return to his previous club Olympiacos and has signed a profitable multiyear deal.

Ongoing Negotiations

The situation was remarked upon by Raptors President Masai Ujiri on Monday. “We are still experiencing that circumstance,” Ujiri stated. I spoke with Sasha, his agents, Bobby Webster (GM), coach Darko Rajakovic, and I believe progress will happen soon or possibly take a few months.

Ujiri stressed the importance of communicating efficiently. “We obtained a player through a trade and we believe we have effectively communicated.” We had good communication with the agent and team previously, so we’ll wait and see what happens.

Vezenkov’s Recent Achievements

Vezenkov, who was awarded MVP for the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, just agreed to a three-year, $20 million deal with the Sacramento Kings. Towards the end of June, he was swapped to the Raptors alongside Davion Mitchell, Jamal Shead, and a second-round pick in the 2025 draft, while Jalen McDaniels shifted to the Kings.

EuroLeague Career

Vezenkov has had a strong career in the EuroLeague. Playing in 228 games across eight seasons for Olympiacos and FC Barcelona. Apart from winning the MVP award. He was also selected for the All-EuroLeague First Team in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

The Raptors are optimistic for a solution that is advantageous for both Sasha Vezenkov and the team. The situation is still changing, and we anticipate receiving updates in the upcoming days or months.
