We still haven’t heard anything from Moussa Diabate or Caleb Houstan as the deadline to remove players from the 2022 NBA draft is looming.
The comeback of Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan, though, might definitely help the Wolverines in this basketball season. Diabate and Houstan both joined the Draft while still eligible, and they have until June 1 to decide if they want to remain in the draft or return to Michigan.
To return all five-star prospects would be amazing, but getting even one of those back will be a huge success for the Wolverines heading into next season. Hunter Dickinson returns after opting out of the NBA draft and the Wolverines have added Princeton guard Jaelin Llewellyn via the transfer portal.
Both basketball players appear to be absolutely keen on preserving their names in the draft. Since both camps have been so silent, it’s been difficult to have a read, but Houstan has been moving up in mock drafts, and some feel he’ll be a later first or early second or third choice.
Moussa and Houstan Have Their Specific Capabilities
Moussa’s draft chances had to be enhanced because it wasn’t like a surprise when he performed well. He’s a phenomenal athlete who would be best capable of playing center in the NBA. After some experience in the NBA, he might be a very excellent defender, and his ability to shift screens will be important. Because he’ll be playing within, his lack of a jump shot won’t be as noticeable, and he has a pretty good sense for attacking in the post when he can grab the ball.
Houstan was predicted to the Thunder, and this isn’t the first time this has happened in a simulated draught. Oklahoma City has three first-round picks and a bunch of second-round picks, so it makes more sense for them to take a risk on a player who was once considered a lottery choice. Furthermore, a few of these teams had been watching Houstan since before his Michigan tenure, and their monitoring efforts were far superior to what some are crediting him with. Houstan successfully completed two 3-pointers in more than half of his games.
As we don’t even have an idea what will be happening in a day or two but Diabate will keep his name in the draft or maybe he is meeting with other teams before the decision.
