Golden State Warriors registered a massive victory against Dallas Mavericks in a challenging game to eliminate the Mavericks.
Return of Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson had a huge Game 5 going off for 32 points and knocking down eight three-pointers to direct the Warriors to the NBA Finals. Warriors’ series-clinching victory might not be possible without Klay. Klay Thompson appears to be a backbone for the Warriors as he filled the gap that was missing in the last two years. Andrew Wiggins backed him with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Green scored 17 points followed by Andrew Wiggins and Curry claimed 15 points with nine assists. Curry grabbed MVP for his terrific performance inside the court. Thompson is turning into style after two major injuries and two years of grueling recovery and has pushed the Golden State Warriors straight into the NBA Finals.
In the third quarter, Luka Doncic could reach only 2 of 10 from the field, and the Mavericks were handed a 28-23 after twelve minutes of game time. In the closing moment of the third quarter, Dallas trimmed a 25-point lead to eight points but didn’t get past the line in the final.
Turning point
The game changed quickly in the third quarter and became out of hand for Dallas. The Warriors responded immediately, and the Dallas Mavericks, who went small, couldn’t keep up. The Warriors won 120-110 over the Mavericks.
Warriors Coach Steve Kerr said: “For our team, our guys, especially the core group, to be part of that six times in eight years, I don’t even know what to say. It just takes an enormous amount of skill and determination and work.”
Golden State Warriors will host the qualifier of the Eastern Conference Finals between Miami and Boston on June 2 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Doncic was coming all-time high against the Warriors and secured 28 points but got frustrated as they didn’t deserve elimination. Luka Doncic had his say:
“I don’t like losing, especially not like this. I played terrible. But if we’re talking about our season, I’m really proud of this team. Nobody had us here. But I promise we fought until the end.”
