Rocket’s Coach, Ime Udoka,  did not beat around the bush as he attacked the NBA officiating in the wake of the team’s (5th) consecutive loss, which clearly extinguished (the chances of) their playoff participation.

Rocket’s Coach Criticizes the ‘Soft’ nature of NBA Officiating as Their Playoff Hopes are Extinguished

The Rockets, with ease going 22 point ahead of the Dallas Mavericks, witnessed the sudden burst of negativity they had never even imagined and plunged downward. In the last seconds, Dante Exum stole a defunct easy win from their grasp, using the buzzer-beater three-pointer which led to overtime hearding the Mavericks securing a memorable finish at 147-136.

Kyrie Irving’s incessant 48-points performance, followed by Luka Dončić’s clear 37 points performance, only beleaguered the rockets hold on hope casting them out of a chance for the playoffs after a slight illusion.

Fueled by high hopes glum hurdles took away all the positive coronation with the rocky patches bringing them closer to the playoffs. Just as the fans were barely recovering from the humiliating rejection of rookie Amen Thompson, who got involved into a scuffle with Maxi Kleber, the team received another blow. “The officiating was soft and implicit of a league trying to adjust to a new normal of player empowerment,” said Udoka, a no non-sense type coach, in his post game conference.

For the eyes of a coach like Udoka, the context of modern NBA requiring the restructuring of approach and strategy is just the one to be encountered by a team such as Rockets. Of course, having a relatively young roster only makes the process of surviving in the ungracious world of professional basketball even more challenging. A rupture of form for the team is from an array of thrumps to a humbling ngas, which is, in essence, a lesson about the unpredictable nature of the sport.

The Orlando Magic home game, which is in the last game day for the Rockets, is not likely to be savored by their team, in view of their defeat after their initial triumphs. Notwithstanding that, the Mavericks adjusted their mission, to a match-up against Charlotte, determined to obtain the result of their drive.

The professional basketball is perhaps the only field where rich and fame is earned or closed in the twinkling of an eye, and the Rockets’ rollercoaster drive represents the disdainful traits of the sport. As they lick their wounds and regroup for future battles, one thing remains certain: “All that an NBA player gets is opportunities, an NBA player either seizes or fritters it away,” sums it all.
