Just under a fortnight following the Boston Celtics victory in the NBA Finals, the race for the next championship title is already intensifying. Teams including Boston Celtics are rushing to find the right players to compete as the 2024 NBA Draft brings in 58 newcomers to the league. Here is an overview of where every team is positioned after the draft and right before the start of free agency on June 30th.

30. Washington Wizards

Even with the addition of Alex Sarr, the Wizards are still far from escaping the bottom of the league.

29. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are counting on Ron Holland to enhance Cade Cunningham’s abilities and solve some of their urgent problems.

28. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have no draft picks and are beginning from the beginning due to Mikal Bridges leaving.

27. Portland Trail Blazers

The future of Portland is up in the air, particularly due to the arrival of Donovan Clingan and the ongoing issue involving Deandre Ayton.

26. Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets receive a small improvement with the addition of Reggie Jackson, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be accomplished.

25. Toronto Raptors

Scottie Barnes is the focal point, yet the Raptors need more depth to back him up.

24. Utah Jazz

The Jazz made a solid draft selection, obtaining Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier, and Kyle Filipowski, establishing a strong basis for the future.

23. Chicago Bulls

There is speculation about whether the Bulls will build their team around Zach LaVine, the only standout player in Chicago, or trade him.

22. San Antonio Spurs

The partnership of Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama might be just what the Spurs require to advance.

21. Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks aim to settle the ongoing dilemma between Trae Young and Dejounte Murray with the No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher.

20. Miami Heat

Bam Adebayo has signed a secure long-term contract, but Jimmy Butler’s unclear future may mean this season is their final chance at a championship.

19. Houston Rockets

Houston narrowly missed the playoffs last season, but shows potential with the addition of the third overall pick, Reed Sheppard.

18. Golden State Warriors

As the Warriors’ roster gets older, they may require new talent to remain competitive while uncertainties about Klay Thompson’s future persist.

17. Sacramento Kings

The addition of Devin Carter to the Kings’ already stacked backcourt may propel them higher in the standings.

16. Memphis Grizzlies

Following a lackluster season, the Grizzlies are counting on Zach Edey to assist them in regaining their position at the top of the Western Conference.

15. Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers have potential to excel with good health and could gain from making a significant free agency acquisition.

14. Indiana Pacers

If Pascal Siakam remains with the team, the Pacers could have a chance to be competitive for an extended period of time.

13. Orlando Magic

The rise of Paolo Banchero as a standout player is strengthened by the selection of Tristan da Silva, adding additional offensive firepower.

12. Cleveland Cavaliers

Kenny Atkinson, the new coach, aims to persuade Donovan Mitchell to renew his contract and keep developing the team around him.

11. Milwaukee Bucks

It will take time for Doc Rivers to blend with Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, however, the Bucks have a solid base to work from.

10. Los Angeles Lakers

The J.J. Redick trial and the emphasis on Bronny James’ minutes on the court with his father will be important plotlines.

9. Phoenix Suns

The new coach, Mike Budenholzer, hopes to improve the team, which is filled with skill but was affected by a poor previous season.

8. Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers must make sure Paul George and James Harden remain with the team as they transition to their new stadium.

7. New Orleans Pelicans

Ensuring Brandon Ingram’s future would strengthen the Pelicans as they aim for more success in the Western Conference.

6. New York Knicks

Obtaining Mikal Bridges sets up the Knicks to compete with the Celtics for dominance in the Eastern Conference.

5. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder’s youthful team, led by Alex Caruso, is still developing despite achieving a top seed.

4. Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are still a strong contender with Jamal Murray close to signing an extension and Nikola Jokic’s impressive performance.

3. Minnesota Timberwolves

The playoff experience of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, along with the addition of Rob Dillingham, strengthens the Timberwolves as a formidable team.

2. Dallas Mavericks

With Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving leading the way, the Mavericks are determined to make up for their defeat in the Finals against Boston.

1. Boston Celtics

The current NBA champions Celtics are still leading, on track to be the first back-to-back champions since the 2017-18 Warriors with most of their championship team still intact.

As the free agency period begins, teams will compete for better positioning in order to dethrone the Celtics and win the NBA championship.
